My work is an investigation into the role of performance, video and photography in the construction of female identity. Through live movement, moving images, and multiplying the figure, I deconstruct persistent ideals for feminine behavior, and by inserting myself into the performance, I construct new possibilities, and a greater range of movement and feminine expression.

My research encompasses feminist theory regarding the male gaze of cinema, traditions of women collecting and imitating images of other women (Victorian era photographic calling cards, pin-ups, and Vaudeville mimicry routines) and contemporary references such as YouTube fan videos, tutorials and how mimicry and parody are used on Saturday Night Live.
